British Gas smart meter installation (domestic)

I know british gas uses third parties for the installation of smart meters at business premises but what about domestic customers?
Do they use a third party? If so who OR is it done "in house"

    I think most if not all the energy companies use 3rd parties to install smart meters.

    The installers tend to work a certain area and install the meters for whichever company needs them fitted. The guy who fitted ours last year (we are with Octopus) lives within a mile of us and said he only books in jobs within a 15 mile radius of home.
