Failed to file a defence in time

Hello all,

I had received an MCOL issued on the 15th of March, AOS was submitted on the 24th of March; I was about to file my defence uopn checking MCOL online a judgement was issued on the 20th of April. I have not received anything in the post .. what are my next steps? appreciate your help guys.

What does your MCOL status page tell you?  It will have the date of AoS submission.

Can I apply for a judgment to be set aside? On the basis that I miscalculated the date. The charges are unfair though amounting to £270

You can apply but you will lose and just add more costs. The court needs a good reason to set it aside and you miscalculating dates wont count as such.

Thanks, I guess there is no way out, & pay the CCJ? Although I have not received the CCJ in post yet

If you pay the judgement within a month then at least you avoid a CCJ appearing on your credit file.

Yes 🥹 had one one case & the other got dropped and this one I fudged it not sending the defence on time; I was observing Ramadan, this the concentration on this was not there !
