Late 2022 my local garage came to collect my car for MOT a long standing arrangement. The driver selected the wrong gear and drove into my electric garage door. He immediately accepted blame returned to the garage and they sent an door company to assess and quote for a new door which was ruined and could not be opened. I also got my own quote. Yesterday they are still saying waiting on their insurers, surely this is too long so what can I do please?

Two options basically.
(1) Send a letter before action to the garage saying that if they (or their insurers) don't pay the amount you've been quoted for repairs within 14 days then you'll take court action, then if they don't pay begin court proceedings via MoneyClaim Online or
(2) Make a claim on your own home insurance policy and let them do the job of chasing the garage and their insurers for the costs. This potentially means paying your excess and claiming it back from the garage's insurer when everything is settled, but in general is probably least hassle for you. If you think your own insurer is taking too long you can use their complaints procedure, but you have very few rights of redress against someone else's insurance company short of court action.1
