Hearing Tests- High Street, NHS or Private

My NHS audiologists are wonderful. I began off with the so-called 'tulip' shaped things in my ear which I found really painful so I was able to call up for a new appointment. After that I was given a mould type, no more pain but far too much occlusion which made conversation (i.e. me talking) almost impossible. I just recently got a mould which is almost lacy, not much tubing and much more air space so now I wear it almost all the time. It's made such a difference. The mould aid links to my phone via bluetooth so I can adjust the volume and the type of environment I'm in though it's not able to do advanced stuff such as using it to make / receive calls.I'm told that the hearing aid cost the NHS over £2,000. Then the batteries are free. I'm not tempted to move to the private sector. The equipment is high-tech enough for my needs and the audiology service as flexible as from high-street operators.2
