A small grey window headed "Windows R Installer" v5.022621.1 with other text below it appears either when I switch on my pc or when I go to put it to sleep. I have noticed some of the time this is when windows 11 has done a check for updates. It says "ok" at the bottom. I usually just close it. Have done scans with Norton. Malwarebytes and Hitmanpro which showed no viruses. Is this normal? My pc is relatively new - bought last November but the grey window is fairly recent - about the past month. If its normal would someone say what it is? Have tried googling but can't find explanation. With much thanks.

Open a Command Prompt as Administrator: https://www.makeuseof.com/windows-run-command-prompt-admin/
>> Run these commands one at a time and hit Enter after each instance:
MSIEXEC /UNREGISTER
MSIEXEC /REGSERVER
(Take note of the space between MSIEXEC and /)
It's Windows ® Installer. V 5.022621.1...0 -
Hi - sorry to be dim - would you explain what these commands would be doing and why the installer appears in the first place? It appeared today when I was doing stuff with the HP support/optimisation etc. With thanks.0

No, I don't want to spend the time to being doing that. If you don't want to do it, you don't have to do so. The boxes aren't doing any harm, so you can just leave them to pop up or use my method to stop them popping up.0
