Sister's Separation Again - please help

Options
Hello again everyone. I don't even know where to start and i'm incredibly tired so i'm going to keep this short and sweet. My sister's divorce is hell on earth. Her soon to be ex-husband is a slug. A really nasty slug.

We are 99.9% that he has put a listening device of some kind in the house upstairs because he knows that she will take private calls and discuss private things up there away from the boys. He has started saying things that he shouldn't and couldn't possibly know, including things we have deliberately been saying to see if he would raise them. They are things that aren't true and don't exist.

He is a disgusting man, please trust me when I say we aren't paranoid people. This is very on brand for him, their marriage was very abusive (from him to my sister, not the other way around).

We have managed to find her router using the IP address and it shows 8 devices connected to the Wifi. She can only think of 7. But we aren't sure what we can use to identify which device is which. I'm basically just hoping and praying that someone on here can help and give advice on what to do. We can't prove anything right now, and we really need to a) get this out of her home to make her privacy safe again and b) be able to prove what he has done to show him once and for all who he really is to Cafcass.

Please help. We are desperate.

Switch off the ones you are sure of and that should leave the one in question (think)

You could post on the Techie stuff board.
My suggestion would be to change the router password, and re connect the 7 devices that she knows of using the new password.
It won't help identify the rogue device, but will kick it off her home network.

Thank you, i've been frantically Googling and this seems a good way to go initially and then go from there.

If you use a windows computer to connect you can find it's I.P address as follows:

Press start button, in search box type "cmd"

    Open the command prompt app

in the window that opens (the command prompt) type as follows:

    IPconfig /all

(that is IP in caps - config lower case, a space, a forward slash then all. You can copy and paste my command if you wish. To paste in command prompt use the CTRL button and press V)

    press enter

a fair list will appear, depending how you connect look for an IP for WIFI or wireless LAN and compare these IP's to your router list.

Once you've identified your PC turn everything else off, tthen back on 1 at a time and see what is what.
