Mouse on second monitor

I've just set up a second monitor on my computer, but the mouse only stays on the one monitor.  How do I get it to move between monitors?

Mine works fine both on Win 10 in the past and now Win 11. How have you set up your dual monitor in Windows because it should just be automatic.

I didn't do anything to set them up, windows recognised the second one automatically when I connected it.  I have extend these displays selected under multiple displays.

ok, I have sorted it now.  Re arranging the displays seems to have worked.

Assuming you are in using Windows then in the display settings you will have an image of the two monitors. For most you will want to ensure the image on the screen mirrors the positioning in real life. Where the two monitors touch in the image the mouse will pass from one to the other. 

If you have two identical monitors then it can be hard to work out which is which so there is normally an Identify button which will number each monitor both in the image and on the screen. 

For me in the office I have an ultra wide screen but have my laptop open and under the middle of the screen so arrange the laptops screen under the monitor and move the mouse between the screens by going off the bottom of the monitor or off the top of the laptop screen.

Alternatively you can do what my boss always used to do which is to physically switch over the monitors when they aren't in the right order.
