Car 'Test drive' insurance

It appears to be an increasing practice for car dealers to require prospective customers to sign an agreement covering their (the dealer) insurance excess before allowing a test drive. The insurance excess can be £000s.

Is anyone aware of any standalone insurance product that cover this insurance excess amount?

Obviously you can take out temporary insurance cover for a specific vehicle but it won't cover the situation where you may be wishing to test drive several cars over a period of time.

Contact a few Car Hire excess Insurers to ask about this. May not be car hire as such, but perhaps they can cover the risk you are wanting to Insure.
The comments I post are personal opinion. Always refer to official information sources before relying on internet forums. If you have a problem with any organisation, enter into their official complaints process at the earliest opportunity, as sometimes complaints have to be started within a certain time frame.
