Virgin Media won’t accept I cancelled. Help please

I cancelled VM a month ago (I was out of contract).  I received numerous calls with different offers but refused them.  We had Sky installed today which is £70 cheaper.  Rang Virgin to enquire about returning equipment and they denied that I’d cancelled and said I have to pay another month.
How can I escalate this to speak to someone who can sort it out. I have cancelled the standing order.

Make sure you have now terminated the contract (follow the appropriate process). If you can't get the latest bill cancelled, then you should probably pay it to avoid any adverse markers being applied to your credit file, before chasing the refund. I would recommend not cancelling the direct debit (doing this does not cancel your contract).
