Back in 2019 I decided to finally take control of my finances and to take that first step in asking for help. As a person who has always felt confident that they could solve their issues themselves I have always found it difficult to ask for help. I joined this forum with over £20,000 of unsecured debt at 25 and the stress and pressure of trying to make money work for me.
Through support and guidance from several of you and reading about the stories of others I took a leap and contacted PayPlan to get started with a Debt Management Plan and after hardwork, saving and trying to maximise my budget I'm finally going to be making my last payment tomorrow - a whole 2 years early! Paying back the full £20,000 to over 10 different creditors.
I don't really know how I ever could have done it without the advice and posts on this forum. So what i'd really like to say is thank you MoneySavingExpert and everyone who posts on this site. Your stories have seriously inspired me when my morale was low and it showed me a way out when I didn't think there was one. I hope my journey inspires others who are in the same boat as me where through bad decisions they've ended up riddled with debt. I look forward to entering my 30's being debt free and much more wiser about better ways of spending and utilising money.
