My community finance loan refused scam..

Welbs

I had been looking at getting a loan for home improvements. Checked my credit files. They have some entries which say pre-approved for this or that loan. I usually ignore them.
Then out of the blue I got an email from this company with my name on it and quoting a loan ID. I had not applied for a loan from them or anyone else. Their website is fairly vague and waffly with no real substance. I emailed them suggesting that someone had applied fraudulently for a loan. No reply.
Anyone have a similar experience?
It screams fraud or "scam" at worst, phishing at best.

Is this a company you 'have ' looked at getting a loan from'?
What information did you give to any of these companies you looked at.0 -
I'm going to take a guess that you used https://www.mycommunityfinance.co.uk/ who seem to offer a gateway to some credit unions and that they describe as "ethical" lenders. They are regulated by the FCA and their complaints page confirms that unresolved complaints can be referred to the FOS, so I would suggest that you follow their complaints process.0

Thanks for replies.
I didn't go on their website and I wouldn't use them anyway. I checked one of my credit files via clearscore and I suspect that is where the problem lies.
I have not given my data to anyone (other than MSE) and I'd remember if I had filled out a loan application. It's not something you would forget easily.
I have requested any data they hold on me via GDPR route so should find out.
There are no soft or hard searches on any of my other files thankfully.
Actually got a reply from their customer services just now saying that they knew I hadn't applied for a loan and are investigating.
We will see.
I'm old and cynical and trust almost noone.0
