Amex adding a card holder

I saw a promo to add a cardholder onto my Amex card and receive (I think) 3000 points

Would this create a link on our credit reports?

There is only one account holder on a Credit Card Unlike a joint bank account. As such You would be responsible to pay for all their spending.

Thats fine, its more to justify the annual fee and hopefully make it worthwhile really, just coming up to the first year

What card are you referring to? 

With The Amex Platinum Card, the additional Card Holder is also able to sign up for his/her own Priority Pass account as well as using the Platinum Card to enter the additional lounges not part of PP (e.g. Centurion Lounges, Plaza Premium and few others). Both Cardholders will be able to guest 1 person each (or 2 in the Case of the Centurion Lounge). Those entries are unlimited as far as you holds the cards (whilst the  Preferred Rewards Gold comes with only with 4 entries per year within the Lounge Club network (a reduced Priority Pass Lounge list, so no Centurions Lounge nor Plaza Premium and few others)
