Ask for their credit referrals team email address. Looking at their privacy policy, you can contact the credit referrals team here: credit check appeal form
Been there, done that.  Appeal not granted. Reason not stated!  You can't contact them, only fill in that form.  There seems to be no way by which a potential customer can speak to or email the relevant team.

Just been speaking to a very helpful girl at Vodafone sales who tried her best but came up against the folk in credit appeals refusing to talk to the customer.  Long story short, she undertook to pass on all my details to her manager, who "will" look in to it and try to get it resolved.  Worst case is that I can do nothing until 90 days has elapsed since I was declined, then I try again.  And no doubt hit the same problem ...

Meanwhile I now have my Equifax report as well as TransUnion's.  It too is exemplary.

And all this in an effort to save £96 a year by switching to Vodafone's social tariff!

According to that database, the address for my postcode is 1 Wide Road.  There is no such address.  My address is actually 1 Something House, Wide Road.
... Credit files are on the person not the address. When you do a query to get a return which includes a confidence factor of you and the data being the same. Its likely with a partial matching address the CRA could identify you but may have given it a lower confidence factor because of the missing element and as such Vodafone werent willing to extend credit.

Thank you very much for that really useful post  :)

There are other providers offering a social tariff, just go with them instead.

@Si_Clist Bt offer a £15 per month social tarrif if that's any good for you.You get broadband, home phone and 700 free minutes only problem it  the phone is VOIP.

Someone has posted on the tv and phone thread about being refused for the Vodafone social tarriff they also say they havent any bad credit.
  • i am having a similar issue with natwest, trying to advise answering questions. received a standard template response which I have torn apart.  numerous companies at the moment are not exactly customer friendly, vodafone appears to be another

have you raised any disputes via the credit agencies online?  this could be worth a shot. vodafone are not exactly the easiest company to get in touch.

have you cross referenced your address and looked at how it is listed on the electoral roll, mis matches could throw out the credit search

Sounds like Vodafone need referring to the Information Commissioner Office.
