Hi I contacted British Gas today wanting to know what the balance on the account is and if they can reduce the DD. They have agreed to reduce the DD from the £370 I was paying to £200 but they are reducing to refund me the credit in my account. They say this should be use. to cover next winter. Surely i will have built up more credit by then. I am in credit by £2300 and I asked for a refund of £2000 but they refused. It is my money!

  • Hi,
they will have taken your credit balance into account when reducing your DD by £170.
£170 x 12 = £2040 so you are getting the £2000 back in monthly savings.

When did you get the last bill?

BG only bills every 6 months, so for 6 months the credit will just accumulate without there being any deductions for you enrgy use.

£2370 on a £370 direct debit sounds very much like the new bill is due soon. Otherwise you must have been overpaying for a very long time.
