Erudio Student Loan status - pre 1998

Hi. Hoping to find either some advice or a reliable impartial source of advice regarding my student loans. From other posts on here I am hesitant to contact Erudio directly until I know the facts for myself!
I have 3 loans - 1996, 1997 and 1998. I had never reached the salary threshold for earnings to have to make repayments, and have always deferred it. Deferment is currently until June 2023. From my research I believe that these loans would now be due to be written off (latest one was taken out 1998 which is now 25 years ago)
Question 1 - should Erudio action this or do I need to? I have received a letter from them saying I can start deferment process for this year which suggests they are not planning to write off.
Question 2 - I changed from part-time to working full time at the end of last year, which still didn’t take me over the threshold, but I then received a (very nice) pay rise, which has just taken me over as from November. So, I would no longer be able to defer, but as it is due to be written off what happens? I can understand if I would be required to make some payments but what I am really hoping is that after almost 25 years of not earning enough I won’t now have to pay off the full amount?! Would seem very unfair.

Can anyone help answer my question or direct me towards somewhere I can get an answer before I approach Erudio?
Thank you!

looks like they will cancel them and write to you to tell you they have done so:

  • Thank you that’s a useful link. So potentially I can do nothing and they will activate the cancellation..?

That’s what it says, though you may need to be making a few payments until the write off date.

Whatever you do don't do nothing.
If you're due for deferral or need to set up a payment plan now you're over the threshold then make sure you fill out the forms in time, even if that means you start having to repay some of your loan. Being in payment does not extend the loan beyond the age related cancellation.

The age related cancellation of your loans cannot be overridden by Erudio unless you are in breach of the loan terms. If you do nothing then this may breach the terms, if in did the loan will default, become repayable in full and never written off.
As I said don't give them any excuse to do this by doing nothing.
  • Thank you. That’s what I couldn’t find the answer to anywhere - if I started making payments (which I have no issue with) whether that would mean the loan wouldn’t be cancelled, which would be pretty depressing after almost 25 years of not earning enough! Thanks for taking the time to reply. I will go ahead and complete paperwork and see what happens.
