Ebay GSP and Combined Postage

Options
Just sold a couple of items to a buyer that asked me to combine postage on them - fair enough, but then I looked and their delivery address is the USA. When I tried to invoice for a combined delivery the GSP details all disappeared and I was asked which international package service I wanted to use.

So apparently you can't combine postage on GSP items? But Ebay assures me that the buyer will see a combined postage charge for the two items.

Anyone had any experience of this either as a buyer or seller? Seems a bit weird and feel like I might be missing something.

I have experience as a seller with GSP.

eBay control GSP charges so they are correct.

As a seller you have no involvement in the process other than getting it to the UK fulfillment address.

Yeah they've paid up now - Ebay have combined the two items but charged her two of my postage fees and I guess one additional fee for the GSP portion. Suits me.
  • The thing to do is for them to ask beforehand and then you can set up a single listing for the items they want if you wish, I don't know how eBay figure out the charges but if you list e.g 2 books together I don't see how they can charge twice the price for shipping as they don't know what the listing is actually for.

Yeah, I agree that generally the thing to do is for people to ask beforehand if they are looking for something out of the ordinary although I can't be bothered with special requests normally as you end up putting in the effort and then the flippers don't even bother replying.

As far as I am aware GSP is charging postage based on item price, so even if you were to bundle the items together at a higher rate, the GSP price would go up as well. I might be wrong but this is what happened when I had a customer from USA ask me to do this.

I really dont know. could well be.

I only turned it on because someone from USA asked me to and then put in a lowball offer on one of my items after I'd faffed about with it all.
