Energy supplier caused direct debit late payment

We are having trouble with our energy supplier. Long story short we have an excellent credit score no missed/late payments. Now we do have a missed payment on our credit report. Supplier emailed 6 Jan 2023 “Great news your DD is set up and ready to use”. 26 Jan email “We’re sorry we recently updated your energy account and did not set up your DD correctly this means we did not collect your Jan payment”. We paid the outstanding amount caused by supplier in full. 28 Jan email “Thank you for your payment”. We looked at our credit report last week and saw a marker for a missed payment by supplier posted 22
Dec. We have been with this supplier many years.
We called the supplier and lodged a complaint also sent an excel sheet showing that the only time no DD payment was made was beginning of Jan caused by them.
We are moving and have to rent a new home credit checks will be done when we apply by the Landlord or Estate Agent. What do we do?

You ask them to remove the late marker.
It won't be seen by the rental credit checks.0 -
How long will it take to remove the missed payment note from my credit report. That is if they will even do it?0

It could be done immediately. if they agree.
You won't see the change for some time unless you have a real time view of your files.0 -
Also send your supplier copies of the emails they sent you, admitting it was their fault, i.e. "26 Jan email “We’re sorry we recently updated your energy account and did not set up your DD correctly this means we did not collect your Jan payment”
It couldn't be more clear. Hopefully they will remove as soon as they can, since they've caused you stress, anxiety and a bad mark on your credit report which could adversely affect your plans to move home. Ask them for some compensation as well, see what they say. They've admitted they got it wrong, you've nothing to lose. Even if it's just a tenner.
Good luck. Please note - taken from the Forum Rules and amended for my own personal use (with thanks) : It is up to you to investigate, check, double-check and check yet again before you make any decisions or take any action based on any information you glean from any of my posts.
