So, the local council has allowed me to seriously upgrade my existing system ie: I can use my flat roof
I intend to have a 6.4kw system with a 9.5kw battery once it's done. What do people recommend in terms of tariff? I'm currently on Octopus tracker with a 3.2kw system and a 3kw battery
I don't have an EV, and I wfh most of the time. I also don't have a heat pump of any kind

You will regret going for such a small battery.I am on Octopus Flux and my total energy cost over the past 7 days is -£15.89 ( a mixture of good and bad days). I will switch back to Go ; Intelligent or E7 to cover battery charging over the Winter months.
The advice that I was given was go for a battery at least the size of your solar array. It was good advice.
I assume that your DNO will not impose a site export limit? I am fortunate in that I have a 11kVA limit. Other applicants haven’t been so lucky. It depends on the state of the local transmission infrastructure.0 -
Sorry I'm saying I only have a 3kw system atm but will be getting 9.5kw[Deleted User] said:You will regret going for such a small battery.I am on Octopus Flux and my total energy cost over the past 7 days is -£15.89 ( a mixture of good and bad days). I don't really know if my DNO are imposing an export limit tbf.
Are you saying you're paying minus £15.89?
If so, how are you working flux? Are you just charging to 100% at the off peak time, and then letting it discharge by itself later on (and also charge from the solar panels too?)0 -
I agree.
You need more battery than you think to make the most of it.
I had two Givenergy 9.5Kwh batteries and it was difficult to predict whether to charge at night or not.
I now have four of them and the dilema has gone.
I will be running an ASHP though so I'm not suggesting you need what I have.1 -
Very similar here. Charge to 100% between 2am-5am.

I went on to Outgoing Octopus on Friday.
In three days I have earnt £10.50 and my gas and electricity use including standing charges is £3.00, so I am up £7.50 in three days.
They are paying me 15p per Kwh for one year and I am on an Economy 7 tariff.
It works for me to know what I am getting and what I will be paying.0 -

I think I realistically need 5kw to get me through the night, especially given I'll have double the solar power now that the council have approved me putting even more panels up0 -
BTW how come you're not using Octopus cosy instead, given you have a heat pumpmatt_drummer said:I agree.

Or are you basically using flux for half the year and cosy for the other half?0 -
May I ask what app that is?powerful_Rogue said:Very similar here. Charge to 100% between 2am-5am.
