Thank you!!LadyWithAPlan said:Oh no ! So sorry to read that - hopefully your savings funds will help you be a little less stressed
fingers crossed you will get a new job soon and the redundancy will be extra cash
Surprisingly unstressed by it but it’s either having savings, or it could be that I am
absolutely full of cold so don't have enough energy to get wound up about it.
There are other roles available and 2 of which are of interest but both would mean a pay cut. Having said that, it may be time for a change of scenery. I have been thinking about it for a while now as the role I do seems to have been in and out of company structures for my whole career and I’m sick of either being redundant or having my job at risk due to restructures. Both would have possibility of progression so now might be the time!
On the plus side I’m on garden leave so I have probably around a month of the consultation period where I can swan around with time to think about wheee I want to go next.28/09/25

I’ve been awol a while as nothing has been happening here other than job hunting, so no chance of being able to do much with my mortgage etc.
But I now have a job and start on Weds 🎉🎉
It’s contracting rather than permie but it’s a pretty hefty daily rate and it’s a 12 month contract. Phew. So busy busy setting up a limited company, business bank account and getting accountancy services sorted. So I’m hoping to start making a bent again on my overpayment target soon!28/09/25

Well I went awol for a while. My mental health took a nosedive at the back end of the year. It’s been the roughest of rough 4 years and the cumulative effect of that broke me.
My contract in my last job came to an end at the end of Jan and I took the opportunity to have some rest. Thankfully we were in a good place financially so I took a break until Easter. In a stroke of good luck a job opportunity reared its head when I was least expecting it (the planets seemed to align for a change! 😃) and I started my new job 3 weeks ago 🎉. Loving is so far! Contract until the end of year all being well 🤞
Managed to max my 10% last year, and I have just paid another chunk off so I have now maxed my 10% for this year too. I have now overpaid by £13547.51 and that should take the outstanding balance down to £119123.91 once it has processed.
I’m pretty chuffed as that means the term is now 12 years 11 months (which still takes me to retirement) but it would have been 17 years 5 months without the overpayments 🎉🎉
