Timber Windows at a reasonable price please?

I have a Victorian house with white double glazing which needs to be replaced in some parts. I decided it would be nice to get mock sash timber windows which are more in keeping with the period but was horrified at the quote I have had. Does anybody know of a cheaper alternative or can recommend a firm which is reasonable. I am in the Midlands. The quote was for hardwood.
Many thanks.
Many thanks.
There are three ways to get something done; do it yourself, hire someone or forbid your kids to do it.
