Closing Santander savings account

I'm trying to close my Santander savings account online, but the 'chat with us 24/7' and 'close my account' options in the help section have been unresponsive for a couple of days now. Anyone know if this is a glitch and whether I'll need to phone them instead? Thank you!

    You need to phone them to close the account you cannot do it online

    They will ask the reason you want to close it

    I closed mine in early April and said I wanted the interest in the last financial year

    I was not asked why I wanted to close my eSaver.

    I was able to get them to close my regular esaver over the chat. I find Santander usually reply in minutes. That said, if the chat hasn't worked for you, probably best to call to get it closed, and then mention the chat isn't working for you. If they aren't sure why, maybe raise a complaint regarding this, so they can look into it in depth and fix it for you. It's a handy feature to have.

    I just closed a redundant savings account through Chat, in online banking using Chrome. Have you tried clearing your browser history and cookies? Have you tried a different browser?
