Has anyone ever done this, thinking about having a slipper bath installed into the far end of a big bedroom, how easy is it bearing in mind there’s not really any plumbing near by? It’s a bungalow so how easy would it be?

How would you deal with all the steam a bath produces? it is possible to do, but there is a good reason people don't put baths in bedrooms0

That’s a good point, it does have windows in the end of the bedroom but an extraction system would be required I’m guessing as well.mi-key said:How would you deal with all the steam a bath produces? it is possible to do, but there is a good reason people don't put baths in bedrooms0

Getting the water to the bath could be quite simple if the pipework can go in the loft
What might be more difficult is the waste
 Where is the nearest drain1

Getting sufficient hot & cold water to the new bath, getting waste water away Could be easy or the opposite but everything is possible
Getting steam out needs consideration. Existing Electrical sockets, switches, lights near the tub need consideration.
 Everything is possible 1 1

Yep going to try and find out where the drain is, steam shouldn’t be that much of an issue as there is windows next to where it may be sited, also an extraction fan would be installed. Sockets etc etc can be moved as well.0

Baths in bedrooms look fine in hotel brochures but do you have a housekeeper and staff to maintain them? What flooring would you install to prevent mould and mildew from occasional splashes? Do you have sufficient room for it to be completely free standing and accessible for cleaning? What is the point, other than a gimmicky look, of installing a wet environment into a dry one?1

The waste is the biggest issue. Is there an existing drain on the outside wall of the intended bedroom? No free lunch, and no free laptop 1 1

If the bedroom is big, it would make a lot more sense to just wall off the end and have it as an en suite.Would save a lot of problems with extraction etc...
Even with an extraction system, it would have be very powerful and running all the time the bath is in use and for a while after ( so noisy and annoying ) to make sure the steam didn't spread to the rest of the bedroom1

I'd worry about the steam getting into wardrobes and the possibility of mould (particularly if it's an older house). Even with an extractor it's unlikely to take all of it as soon as it is produced. If you do have enough space that you can meet the regulations of not having any sockets within 3 metres, then as the last poster mentions, you probably have the room to make a nice ensuite, or at least something that is marginally separated from the rest of the room.My own bathroom is sizeable and I've kept it quite soft, there's wallpaper, artwork, a couple of upholstered chairs to give it a softer feel than the average bathroom, but it's not near my clothes!I've stayed in hotels with baths in the rooms and they're lovely but there's not so many of your belongings in there.Everything that is supposed to be in heaven is already here on earth.
