Inheriting a state pension.

Can I confirm that my wife would not be entitled to any of my state pension if I were to die before her?
I reached pension age last year and my wife has a few years before she reaches SP age. I have neither deferred nor qualify for any additional SP.
All this follows a conversation I had today which suggested that a spouse may be entitled to half of their partners state pension.

I think there is a small part of the old state pension that a spouse who doesn't have their own used to be able to benefit from - pretty sure it is the additional SP.

If you are both post 2016 retirees then the only possible inheritance is half of any protected payment which is the amount over the maximum new state pension.

Thanks.
Need to invest in some immortality futures then.

Would this still be case ( not entitled) if the retirees were pre 2016 and the wife only had a very small state pension of around 100 plus a week? Because they were entitled to he husbands private pension (around 20k) would they not get anything of the husbands state pension?0

Pre 2016 pensioners are a completely different scenario. P14 goes into the details State Pension (ageuk.org.uk)Rogerrabbit777 said:Would this still be case ( not entitled) if the retirees were pre 2016 and the wife only had a very small state pension of around 100 plus a week? Ignoring any possible additional state pension, the pre-2016 basic state pension is now £156.20, and under the old rules if a woman did not qualify for a state pension in her own right then I believe she could be entitled to 60% of that based on her husbands NI record - that is £93.60.Rogerrabbit777 said:Would this still be case ( not entitled) if the retirees were pre 2016 and the wife only had a very small state pension of around 100 plus a week?
