Travel Insurance - Comparison Vrs Tesco - Baffled !

I got a Travel Insurance Quote with Moneysupermarket.com for a couple going to Mexico, the best Price was with Tesco at £61, so as i am a Tesco customer i thought go direct get the 10% discount they keep pushing with been a clubcard member lol and exact same quote came out at £89 (with the 10% discount)
Anyway clearly it doesn't pay to go direct ?
Obviously ill buy via comparison site, my concern is people like my father who is 81 now and probably not as Savvy or would think to check as he would assume if he had a letter from his bank "Tesco for example" that he would be getting a good deal. Don't forget the comparison sites will get their commission.
Anyway just thought i would share this with you
Thanks

Are you sure you are comparing apples and apples? Many insurers have a cut down/budget version of their policies that they sell on aggregators because people are only interested in price whereas they may have a fuller fat one that they sell on their own website because direct customers may value other things other than just price.1

Did you apply for the same level of cover?

Even if they have the same name it doesnt mean they are the same product... Web and Aggregator are treated as two separate channels (even under FCA regulations) and products (and pricing) can vary by channel.... so Aggregator Standard may be lower than Web Standard (and different again to Phone Standard). Sometimes differences can just be which optional extras are included/excluded as standard but others go further changing inner limits or removing some of the secondary covers.sheramber said:Did you apply for the same level of cover?
