Good morning.
We still have Gran's old fur coat, probably bought in the 70s. Does anyone know where I can donate this. I have only been able to find PETA so far. Many thanks
Jac

Just destroy it humanely (I'm assuming it's a 'real' fur coat).

Nobody these days needs to be walking around with a dead animal's pelt on their back.

That's true but as elsien says above, that animal's already dead and was probably bought in the days of ignorance.

However, many charities will accept them, even PETA and some animal charities. If it can be used for the benefit of neglected animals then that's better than it being disposed of.

Hi, if you google (I just tried it) something like "who will take an old fur coat" - a lot of links pop up. You can take your pick.

It was a totally different era and modern day thinking and the word 'ignorance' shouldn't be applied here without being insulting.

Many people now smoke, they're still living with that same ignorance.

Different time, different lifestyle choices ..... we're all ignorant at some point - the smokers amongst us choose to stay ignorant.

@chevalier research some London based companies that buy old fur coats because they recycle them into modern garments for people that still choose to wear them - there's a lot of overseas visitors that want to buy them.

If it hasn't been stored properly it's likely to be in poor quality now.  So unlikely anyone is going to want it as the coat your Gran cherished.

We contacted a local theatre company and they were thrilled to have ours.  Yes they are going to rip them apart but they will be reused in many ways for various costumes which I think is great.

Brie, yes, storage is important - however, you seem to assume it hasn't been therefore 'no-one will want it'. Only the OP can know what state it's in, and tbh if it's in 'poor quality' I doubt they'd have bothered asking - you can't tell the other side of a screen.

If it's in reasonable condition, even if not perfect, then someone may want it

I was going to suggest your local theatre- either for their 'wardrobe' or as above- to make costumes.
