If my passport is a few years old (expired). It was a brown one pre-Brexit. Do I ‘renew’ online or do I have to apply from scratch? Not sure about strikes and when to put forward. Thank you.

You just reapply, not from scratch, as you already had a UK passport.

You can renew an expired passport providing it was issued after 1st January 1994.donnac2558 said:You just reapply, not from scratch, as you already had a UK passport.
If it is older than that, you have to go through the whole process from scratch again.

As our passports were due to expire this May we thought we’d better allow more time for processing if there are strikes. Applied to renew online (it worked fine on my smartphone too) two weeks ago and just had text and email today to say the new one is out for delivery.
