Where can I get boiler cover for my air source heat pump? I cant find any company apart from Mitsubishi who offer a plan.
I bought my house from the council so I have no warranty in my name for the system that's installed. Its now 3 years old and I daren't leave it any longer without cover in case things start to go wrong with it

There's no boiler to insure...
There might be some cover for it from the manufacturer for up to maybe 5 years-have you checked? No free lunch, and no free laptop

Stick some cash in a savings account each year to cover any repairs needed. At least if it doesn't go wrong you're not out of pocket, much cheaper than insurance.Barnsley, South Yorkshire

That is the best plan especially with some decent savings rates about👍Alnat1 said:Stick some cash in a savings account each year to cover any repairs needed. At least if it doesn't go wrong you're not out of pocket, much cheaper than insurance.1 -
I would advise you to get it serviced annually by a local qualified and reliable engineer, it is your best insurance against nasty surprises.
I think Octopus offer service plans, maybe only for their own heat pumps, may be worth you checking it out.1 -
Which Mitsubishi? Electric or Heavy Industries? They are two separate firms.
There's two parts to ASHP maintenance: the refrigerant side and the plumbing side. Different bods and qualifications for different bits typically - so be sure to find an installer-maintainer that has staff (mostly technicians rather than degree level engineers) with both qualifications (and G3 quals as well, probably on the plumbing side).
ASHP cover is still a niche market, but will be expanding... ask the regular insurers for quotes?
But self-insurance with a 'savings account' and learning to do the bits you can do (legally and safely) will reap rewards for you. Understand your ASHP installation and how to use it the most economically.1
