    I prefer flat, embossed numbers tend to fade.

    US has both embossed and non-embossed cards in use. Many higher end travel cards in US are non-embossed - e.g. Chase Sapphire Reserve.

    I suspect many rental locations would struggle to find their embossing machine if they even still have one but I understand the OP's concern. Hopefully this is an example of old text that hasn't been updated.

    Barclays do issue embossed debit cards, true, but their (still available, personal) credit cards have all been flat for a couple of years now.

    Yes, didn't see this was in the CC section. I had embossed debit card, and in the new year, I got all my debit card(and CC) out and ordered a new card.

    All (nationwide, Llyods) is now flat except Barlcyas, which I was quite disappointed.
