Lease car parking ticket

Hello
I have a lease car through Knowles via NHS. I recently received a letter from a dcblegal solicitors stating there was an unpaid ticket from 14/2/22. The ticket was originally from Highview Parking Limited.
I recall the date was an evening meal for Valentines day, however, can't remember if there was any signs to state we had to pay, even late on an evening? We do check for these and I cannot think that we wouldn't have on this date?
This is the first correspondence I have received and they are now demanding £170. The lease company were first notified 06/04/22, 7 weeks after the alleged incident, over a year ago.
The letter from dcblegal also has the wrong address on it, we received this letter by chance, we have moved from the street on the letter and the neighbour who received it, gave it to our old landlord.
I do feel this is an unfair ticket, can anyone advise please? It has been over 28 days since the solicitors letter was sent due to the fact it was sent to the wrong address.

Send Highview a SAR to see what, if anything, they actually sent and to which address. You also need to contact their DPO and tell them to "erase" your old address and update with your current address. You should also do the same with DCB Legal DPO. The word "erase" is highlighted for a reason.

Has the lease company got your current address?

Now is `also a good time to read through the Newbies/FAQ thread in order to learn about where you are in the scam and what happens, when and what you need and don't need to respond to.
  • Thank you so much
I'm making my way through the Newbies FAQ for lease cars, tickets etc but haven't found anything, so far, relating to a similar issue (with it being so long ago). I'm just mindful it is over the 28days stated by DCBLegal in the letter.
What does the acronym DPO stand for please?
  • Also, yes the lease company provided the correct address, last year. They have provided me with proof of said communication

What?  The lease firm gave Highview the right address, but DCBLegal decided to write to an old address?

You must urgently get both DCB and Highview to erase the old address and the NEWBIES Thread already tells you how to do this (in the 2nd post) and what DPO stands for.  You can't delay.  You cannot risk a claim form going to an old address.

DO NOT phone them, obviously.  And it goes without saying not to pay, given how easy DCBLegal claims are to beat!  No CCJ risk but you'll know all this when you read the second (not first) post of the NEWBIES FAQS.

The lease company gave the correct address in April 2022. They did not contact the lease company until 7 weeks after the alleged parking offence. I have never received any correspondence and moved very recently. The letter from DCB has the right street but not the right house number. The owner of that house states this is the first letter they have received. They gave it to my old landlord who only forwarded it on recently. I have a redirect from the old address so I know they have not sent correspondence to me.

So hopefully you've now done the urgent emails?

Yes, I have, I managed to do some research and sent them in between seeing patients :D! Thank you!
I'm reading up as much as possible. I can't believe how many times I could have contested a ticket in the past!

It is not an offence, call it an event.
