Experience Voucher - No availability, Now Expired

I know the answer to this is probably that there is nothing I can do, but I wanted to see if anyone wiser has any ideas.

In a nutshell - bought an experience voucher for a child for a small local zoo to be a zookeeper for a day. Voucher from 01/2022 - 01/2023. Called up August, no availability told to call back in a few months. Called again in October, no Availability for the rest of the year. Advised that there was a high level of bookings due to hang over from covid and that vouchers would be honoured past their expiration date. Told to call back in the new year. Stupidly did not get this in writing, but was assured I was one of many and they would accommodate me in 2023.

Called in January, sat on hold for ages so gave up. Sent an email in March asking to book only to be told the voucher is expired and they would not honour the voucher. Sent them mobile phone bill to prove I had tried to book multiple times. They still refuse to honour the voucher.

I have an email from them that states there was a backlog of experiences for the first half of 2022. They insist experiences were available for the second half of 2022 and that I am mistaken about what I was told over the phone.

is there anything I can do except resolve never to buy another voucher ever again?! 🤪😭

thanks so much for any advice!

What sort of cost & where bought from?

    Certainly no chargeback rights.

When you say 'no availability' do you mean 'they couldn't offer us anything' or 'they couldn't offer us anything that suited us' because I think there would be a meaningful difference.
