Microsoft Teams Problem

From tomorrow 12-Apr-2023 the version of Teams I have been using over the last year or so, will cease to function.
Microsoft is trying to force me into paying for a Teams account. However there is a free personal account which I can use. I have attempted to sign up for this using my microsoft login details from my PC. But none of my existing contacts or chats are migrated. I cannot see how this can be achieved.
Would anybody please to be able to advise?
Thanks for reading and any help.

Teams is free. It's always been free.I'm assuming you're referring to this:That's the legacy Business version. Were you using it for work? The chats and contacts are on your account you're using for Teams. They can't be transferered.https://www.windowscentral.com/software-apps/say-goodbye-to-microsoft-teams-free-classic-and-hello-to-microsoft-teams-free - - "If your organisation doesn't want to pay for Teams, Microsoft Teams (free) will be available. Unfortunately, data will not transfer from the legacy free version to the new free version. You'll be able to manually save files and then save them within Microsoft Teams (free) but that's not as elegant of a solution as the one offered to those that pay"0

The 'Classic' free Teams is still working today (13th April) for us. I am expecting it to stop at some point, perhaps someone in the US has yet to wake up and press the off button.
As mentioned above they do not allow you to migrate any content from the old free 'Classic' to the new free version. The new version does not seem to allow you to use group tags either so we can no longer tag 'accounts' or 'manager' etc as groups. Not complaining though as it is still freeand we can work around this.
