in Credit cards
I have just logged into Barclaycard and I have a pending trsnaction for £482.74 on my account. I have not spent this money and have asked barclaycard to cancell my card. Has anybody else had a pending transaction for a large amount this weekend between 4-4-23 and 11-4-23. I have only shopped at 2-3 places Tesco, dunkin donuts and heathrow termi nal 5 Costa coffee did not spend anywhere near that amount! Tesco approx £28.00 Dunkin donuts hot choc and donut Costa tea with honey. Very strange, and as it is a pending payment Barclaycard cannot access the information untill it hits my account, even though I can see the pending payment on my online account !

Premature to ask for the card to be cancelled, in that it could be some sort of mistake that's reversed before ever actually making it to your statement, although it is possible that it's some sort of fraud - as they say though, the time to investigate is after it's no longer pending and becomes a confirmed transaction....0

They can tell exactly who the payment is to, while it is in authorisation. Just needs to get to the team that deal with fraud & have access to the fraud detection system.
But even front line should see something that gives a name.Life in the slow lane0 -
A few months ago I bought something on Amazon, that for whatever reason wasn't able to be dispatched. At the price I bought it, I still wanted it, so it kept saying 'Awaiting dispatch' for several months. I then stopped thinking about it thinking it would never come, and then all of a sudden there was a charge to my card for £750 - and not connecting the two, also started to panic when I'd not bought anything over the previous few days. It took a while to work out what it was - but eventually joined the dots. You haven't done something similar? Pre-ordered an item some time ago and forgotten about it? And it's now being charged on dispatch?I wouldn't cancel the card just yet until you find out what the charge is for though - there may not be a need to panic.0

I can see the merchant names myself when I check in the app, you need to click on the Pending Transactions row and it will open a detail list. For what I can see, the only transaction that does not show the merchant are payments to the account rather then payments to third parties with the card.
obvious question, but have you checked the detailed list? And do all pending transactions have the same sign in front of it (for Barclaycard it will have positive sign for purchases and negative sign for payment into the account) ?
(NB I use the Barclays App not the Barclaycard version, but from what I remember both apps were virtually the same last time I had both installed)0 -
Going back to cyrmu’s post. Have you previously used your card to pay for insurance & could this possibly be an auto-renew payment that you didn’t intend or where unaware you had authorised when making the original purchase?1

I had a charge of £65 on my John Lewis credit card from Amazon marketplace a few days ago, not purchased anything recently, Amazon said they could see the charge but had no idea what the charge was for (odd) and insisted my Amazon account hasn't been compromised. Maybe worth a look if your card is linked to Amazon
CC limits £26000
Long term CC debt £0
Total low rate loan debt £3000
Almost debt free feeling, priceless.
Ex money nightmare, learnt from my mistakes and never going back there again, in control of my finances for the first time in my adult life and it feels amazing.0 -
Its not your direct debit or anything? Mine shows as pending before its takenI consider myself to be a male feminist. Is that allowed?0

Secured/Unsecured loans x 1
Credit Cards x 8 (total limit £55,050)
Creation FS Retail Account x 1
Creation Credit Sale 0% x 1 = £112.50pm x 20 mths
0% Overdraft x 1 (£0 / £250)
Mortgage Outstanding - £137,707.00 (Payment 13/360)
Total Debt = £7,400 (0%APR) @ £100pm - Stoozing1 -
1. Barclaycard CAN access the information on pending transactions
2. So can you
3. Because its a pending transaction, unless you have (nearly) run out of available credit, its a non-issue. If it clears, then it DOES become an issue.
Because of (2), it is pointless posting vague details on the internet and expecting us to be able to guess what this is. I can make a guess if you want me to, though?0
