Motability - Handing back car and Insurance no claims bonus

Hi All,

Has anyone here had actual experience of handing back a Motability car and then going to a non Motability car?

Will they issue anything to use as a No Claims Bonus against a new non Motability car?

RSA Motability if asked will issue you a letter stating you have had no claims/accidents in x years whilst on the scheme. 

This letter can then be given/faxed/e-mailed to some insurers when you seek insurance for your private car.

You may have to ring insurers to both ask if they will accept the letter and for a quote from them as the online quotes and comparison sites do not work with letters such as these (as you don't really have an NCB - just a letter stating you haven't made any claims).

I think most companies are aware of these letters when you ring or call into an office. My local NFU Insurance office accepted it without any problem and gave me full 9yrs NCB.

Indeed there isn't. As fully explained by James above that some insurance companies will accept a letter from RSA motability.
