Youtube- is it just me?

Is it just me that gets really annoyed by Youtube

presenters who unnaturally

pause their talking when there would

be no punctuation

at the pause it they wrote it down?

Baldie Barrister and Explainingcomputers are prime examples. I can't imagine that Baldie is like that in Court, so why on youtube?

Is there some new rule for public speaking that I don't know?

I know the solution is don't watch them, which I try, but sometimes the clickbait magnetism is too strong.

    Other YouTube channels are available.
    Other video platforms are available.

Listening to the BB now in the background.  Usually on 1.5 or 2x speed and it's usually in the background
so I don't really notice short pauses.

Some talk fast and it's in standard mode, but some channels talk slowly like they are explaining something to a child
and even 2x seems slow for them.

Short pauses are OK but when they have loud music is an instant stop the video, especially when talking.

I solve this by not listening to content where I find the presenter annoying.

In his theatre plays, Harold Pinter used pauses for dramatic effect.  Some thought they were over-exaggerated.  There's an article about this here...
For the opposite effect on a YouTube channel, have a look at Emma Cruises (example), who turns out a stream of words at a high rate of knots (yes, ha-ha!), almost on a monotone.  Do you prefer this style?

    I'm not sure.

At first listen, it is better to have the pauses where they should be, but she isn't very interesting to listen to- she does lack intonation, and her pauses are too short for me to register what she has just said.

It seems it is me if no-one else has noticed ;)

On the other hand, the adverts that interrupt the videos are read out beautifully!

Interesting about Pinter, you expect and don't notice odd pauses in normal speech, you rarely get them in scripted films & dramas, maybe we mentally create a distinction that changes our expectations, and something has gone wrong with mine, I'm treating a youtube diatribe as a scripted drama and expecting a perfect reading.

    Adverts?  Adverts??  What are they?
It is only recently that someone told me that YouTube has adverts for those who don't use an ad blocker like uBlock Origin...
