Next day delivery

I placed an order with a company who claimed national next day delivery included . The company is based in east anglia I live in Shropshire. I paid on credit card the amount being £629. I received one box last Wednesday out of a shipment of two. I phoned immediately to be told the other box was in Bristol. I phoned again the next day at 1530 to be told the item was in Stafford and was out for delivery and to wait til 6 . Unfortunately the second item did not arrive . I then rang on Good Friday to complain only to be told that it will be with you tmrw . I looked on the couriers website and they only work Monday to Friday so no chance of a Saturday delivery. Obviously no delivery Sunday or yesterday being a bank holiday. This morning I have received my item at 0915, this is a week since I placed my order. Personally I think this is wholly unacceptable given that the item in question would take 3/4 days to put together and my allocated time for this was spent twiddling my thumbs as now I return to work.
what if any action can I take to resolve this matter. I think the fault lies with the company rather than the couriers but one will blame the other.

You have no contract with th4 courier. You only have a contract with the rtailer.
Do they state what happens if delivery is not received next day?
What do you want to happen?
Have you asked the company for it?2 -
As above, any complaint has to be addressed to the retailer, not the courier. And yes, it depends on what the contract states about delivery estimates/guarantees.Whilst it's understandably a little frustrating, have you actually suffered any financial loss due to the late delivery? If so, and if next day delivery is "guaranteed" by the retailer, then you may be able to claim for any actual (and provable) losses incurred. But if delivery is on a "best-efforts" basis (albeit they aim to delivery next day) then I'm afraid there is very little you can do. With the best will in the world, unforeseen delays can occur with any delivery company.0

It is frustrating but next day delivery is rarely "guaranteed" as there are a multitude of things that can happen.
The matter is already "resolved" in that you have received the delivery, albeit late.
You could ask the retailer for some kind of gesture perhaps, but allowing for the easter break they were only a couple of days late.
