I get free delivery despite not being a Prime customer, it happens about 70% of the time i buy from an Amazon seller, rarely is my purchase over £25.
    Is this unusual ?
There's your answer - the £25 minimum is for things dispatched by amazon only. People who sell via amazon but ship themselves are free to set their own shipping costs.

I also noticed a sneaky change - they no longer offer free shipping on certain items for non prime members regardless of how much you spend. From a help page on why you're being charged for shipping - "You ordered a product that is not eligible for free delivery. We cannot deliver some products for free, owing to their nature and the effort involved. Therefore, we exclude such products from free delivery"

I spotted a 99p charge on a subscribe and save order for 32 cans of irn bru - making the bulk order no longer worthwhile. I do live in NI, this specific item may not add a charge in all areas - but basically there may now be shipping charges added for anything them deem too much effort. I did try to contact customer services to check if this was correct for this item, but after an hour being passed to three different people who didn't seem to understand S&S and kept telling me it was because the item cost less than £25 (with the whole order being £30ish) I gave up.

£95 is a ridiculous amount to pay.   My subscription runs out in June and I've cancelled it already (I now had nag messages on nearly every screen).     As everyone says, there is ebay to use instead or Amazon 3rd party sellers who can still give free delivery under £25.    The only advantage for me was the next day delivery but even that is not worth £95 -  might as well pay the extra one off charges for one day delivery if something is required urgently.

Yep - it was a short while ago.
I just batch things up to make the amount; sometimes it takes a week or more to get to the amount.
I also cross-check against eBay and other sellers (including direct from China if I'm not in a hurry for the item) to confirm the best price; Amazon prices are often higher.
I'm not inclined to pay Amazon a monthly fee to encourage me to buy from Amazon, though.
