Credit Cards in Cyprus

I am visiting the island for the 1st tim in July and am not too sure what to do re cash / travellers cheques / credit cards, etc.

We usually go to Florida and have no problems there, as we take approx $500 in cash and put the rest of our spending on our credit cards.

Not sure how much local currency to take and should I also take travellers cheques as well.

Any useful advice would be most welcome.

Loads of cash machines dishing out cypriot currency, get a nationwide credit card lowest charges best rates of exchange. Take some cash with you to tide you over till you get to a cash machine.
Although crime is low always take some other method of getting cash e.g. a debit card, and always get a safe box at your accomadation.

I usually take £ notes and convert them in the countless shops which offer commission free exchange. Always have a couple of cards for back up!
