So many potential scams it's probably impossible to list them all.  Generally its a fake payment message sent or they ask you to ship
elsewhere so you lose protection or they could claim its faulty and you need to pay to get it back where you find its not the item
you sent but still potentially out of pocket.   Many More, you could be busy on Google for a week and not find them all.

Alternatively they might have a relative locally intending to collect.

Firstly make sure you have listed it correctly, I still see listings with ‘collection only’ in the description but with the postage options left on showing an eBay selected postage cost .

If it’s listed correctly then perhaps send a quick note to them asking if they are aware this is collection only.

I pinged them a note last night asking if they can confirm they will collect and they replied that they wont collect and to cancel the bid. Weird but also hugely annoying because if I hadn't noticed it then my listing would have been wasted

Curiously, I had an overseas buyer for some vintage loudspeakers, which were collection only. It screamed scam, but turned out to be genuine.
No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?

Years back I had a buyer from Scotland buy an RC item for £40.  I thought there was little chance they
were going to collect it but the guy arrived exactly the time he said and we had a good chat, he had bought
lots of items and was making it a little trip collecting them all so you never know.
