Dp1, some people recommend chilli powder round plants,it seems a bit cruel though. Garlic granules might do it, they don't like strong smells. You can buy stuff but it might be expensive, I don't know.

Hello it's a long time since I've posted but I've been reading along. Real life has been a bit meh.

Dp1, orange peel or other citrus is meant to deter cats, they don't like the smell

@dp1 Do you have any rose cuttings, or anything spiky that could be laid in the pot? Or maybe put sharp gravel on top of the compost?

Put some sticks in it poking out, small sticks, like baby bamboo size, or twigs, then can't squat on those.
