Laying vinyl flooring over current vinyl flooring as temporary fix

If the plinths are a tight fit, they’ll need planing, as you would want to continue the new flooring under the plinths. Maybe an opportunity to buy a power plane.theoretica said:Things to check for include the new thickness - will any doors catch? Will it go under any cupboard base boards?Another option to consider is painting the existing vinyl. No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?1 -
Great thought! I'll check whether they'll still fit!GDB2222 said:

Not thought about painting it!theoretica said:Things to check for include the new thickness - will any doors catch? Will it go under any cupboard base boards?Another option to consider is painting the existing vinyl.
Cupboards will be fine but I'll check the plinths for ease of removability and clearance for replacing with the extra layer - great thought!0 -
Forget about the pain. The vinyl floor paints wear really quickly and look terrible ! For the difference in cost you are better putting new vinyl down.emotionalrollercoaster said:

The plinths should just clip to the bottoms of the units. If its a pain, you can cut the new vinyl up against them though2
