Mars Capital now have our mortgage account , but confused by reply letter from them .

I did make a post about this but I cannot find it to add to it so I apologise .
Long story short , our business suffered through covid as had to close as none essential, it started to recover , but then i got endometrial cancer diagnosed last December , I suffer severe anxiety I've had surgery its been removed but a small risk of it returning , I speak into this and affirm it will not (positive vibes)
So my husband had to close the business once again to take care of me as no one else could, we get just under £400 working tax credits , we are living off this .
My husband sent a letter to Mars Capital who now have our mortgage , we got a full statement in Feb with what we owe what we paid and the interest rate , we haven't paid since last November when I was going through scans and tests etc , my husband sent them a letter explaining about my illness and the business etc and requested a copy of the original mortgage agreement etc.
Today we received a letter from them saying , Dear Mr ***** we are sorry to hear of your wife's illness and we wish her a speedy recovery , please fine enclosed a copy of the original mortgage agreement , there was no mention of how we are going to pay or when . No threats at all .
I don't get it lol , we were expecting a really strong letter , but no .
Thoughts anyone ?

I am sure more letters will follow.
Lenders have to be seen to be fair to customers.
I wish you a speedy recovery
Can your husband now get work
Any chance you can get the business up and running again

I think once I am feeling better , we will look at selling the house and buying another smaller one , if it makes enough to that we just need a one of two bed now as no kids at home , the house we have is a semi with two bathrooms and four bedrooms . I want a house with a garden though because I have agoraphobia so sit in the garden when it's nicer weather and it helps me get fresh air .

I would suggest checking your credit file using one of the services that checks multiple credit reference agencies like checkmyfile.com (free for the first 30 days).
That will let you see how your lender is reporting your non-payment since November.
Also prepare your plan to down-size in more detail and be ready to give the lender those details when asked as it is likely that you will need it if you are unable to restart your mortgage payments very soon now, or provide any other credible path to repayment.
I would also suggest that you post on the 'Debt-free' forum here to get more advice on what lays ahead, and practical, non-judgemental, help in dealing with the situation you are in.

Thank you for that advice , I'm waiting to hear if I will be awarded PIP and then my husband will see if he can claim carers , then we are going to offer to pay £400 a month until things improve before trying to sell. I'm exhausted from the surgery and from the stress of it all and still in pain , so need time to recover properly before putting house on market.
I read the 'national debt ' information about mortgage difficulties and it says to off some payment ,, so see what happens with that .
We have no credit cards , no loans, no car finance , nothing , we are just living off what the business makes and the working tax credit , I am glad we have no debts , but the mortgage arrears and the fact we are not in a position to pay the full amount of £790 really worries me on top of what I have been through and still recovering .

Update, I got awarded PIP standard daily living and enhanced disability, husband applied for carers and waiting to hear back from them ,so this makes life easier.
The mortgage have send a statement , but nothing else , I want to sort some sort of payment out even if it isn't the full amount . Should contact them or do we wait for them to contact us regarding arranging payment ?

you a you may be entitled to SMI - support for mortgage interest- this is a loan rather than a benefit, but would help you meet your mortgage payments.

Thanks for your reply , when i got diagnosed with endometrial cancer , MacMillan did a benefits check and at the moment my husband is still able to claim working tax credits and you cannot claim SMI with wtc, but that ends soon I think end of next year , and then he can claim UC for both of us and he can work from home and won't be under the MIF rules as he is my carer .

Received a letter today , with charges added and the interest rate and the monthly payment they want plus an arrangement to pay off the arrears. If we can't pay they said they will take the house .
This doesn't scare me one bit , the house is in bad condition, the floor in the back are rotten and being held up by bricks under the floor , there is a damp all on the walls downstairs, the kitchen needs renewing , so do the bathrooms , it needs four double glazed windows replacing and the back door too. So if they take possession good luck to them . We would rather leave them it than skint ourselves paying the disgusting high interest .
How long do they take from start to finish through the courts ? thanks
