Did rishi's sunak while chancellor introduce a mandatory service for rented property? My sister rents and was told she needed to pay £50 a month on top of £425, no own has told her what the service charge pays for or covers, it isn't part of the tenancy agreement...

Yes she has asked and the reply was because of something rishi sunak had down as chancellor they now had to be charged a £50 service charge per month...0

I am a house renter and I live in a flat, and honestly no one has asked me to cover part of the service charges.
Hopefully, one day I will get my own property then I will start paying service charges

The landlord pays the service charge - the rent effectively includes it. Your assured shorthold tenancy should say what is payable by you to the landlord. If it doesn’t list something, you don’t have to pay it.0
