Well yes, a standard (or rather set of standards!) is of limited use when not mandatory, but at least it provides some sort of impartial and objective benchmark against which to measure footwear in the event of sizing disputes, although the cheap outfit prompting this thread are clearly a law unto themselves with the drivel in their Ts & Cs....0

Men's sizing isn't quite as bad as women's but we still have things measured in sizes.
I just don't understand how sizes are helpful to anyone.1
