A very misleading title - hardly a surprise for our newspapers.suspected ... closed - titlechecks on ... suspected - the articleBank accounts will only be closed when the Home Office has made a further manual check to ensure that that the customer is in the UK without permission to stay, officials said.

How does the home office know if someone has permission to stay or not? Every time I've gone through immigration over the last 4 decades I always get a comment about the visa stamp in my original passport - "oh, never seen that one before!" - which makes me think that it's not logged on the immigration super computer. I mean, it's obvious when someone actually looks at my passport but I don't think it's recorded anywhere else.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on Debt Free Wannabe, Old Style Money Saving and Pensions boards.
