Switching joint accounts for the bonus when already done the sole accounts

Just wondering if anyone as had any joy switching 2 x sole accounts then a joint account for a switching bonus with any of the banks when they do their offers. I have tried it with Rbs but it failed and read in the Halifax terms and conditions that a joint account would only pay out the once so I have never tried with them as also hard work to open the joint account in the first place. Any feedback much appreciated.

As you've already noticed, it will always come down to the terms of the specific offer you're looking to take advantage of - you need to read the T&Cs. Most banks limit incentives to once per person per account - meaning only the first sole OR joint switch will count, but not always.

Nationwide when they had their switching offer last year allowed you to get it for switching into soles and joints, in my case we had to switch a joint into a new joint account, as I had already received a incentive for switching my sole account into our old joint account.

Halifax again allowed you to receive their incentives for switching into sole accounts and joint back in 2020, but as you said it is hard to open a joint account as you can only do it in the branch.

I'm not sure if either of these have changed since then, but T&C's will always state it.

Why don't you try to keep it simple as all banks seem to do things differently. I always just swap and open sole accounts with my wife. We have a joint account with Lloyds that we have had for 45 years and never mess with. All others are opened and closed as necessary for switching bonus.

Thought that would be obvious to get another bonus, we have a joint account same as you that we never mess with, done all the sole accounts hence my question to see if anyone had managed to get a bonus for a joint account as well as we have a spare joint donor account.

Ok I did try it with LLoyds . I swapped a sole account into my wife's account and another sole account into the joint. They would only pay one bonus. I then opened another sole account in my name and swapped into that to get the second bonus. If that makes sense.

    Cheers!!!
