Mr Kipling have ruined their bramley apple pies (and probably other products)

Anyone bought Mr Kipling bramley apple pies recently? They've reduced the sugar from 13.8g per pie to 8.5g. Utterly tasteless now. Well, I say tasteless. They taste like they're filled with wallpaper paste. No sweetness at all. Will not buy again.

The sugar tax is probably to blame, sugar is a cheap ingredient so it's unlikely that they'd reduce it otherwise.
I haven't had a sweet pie for a long time and always thought that the ones made in factories were awfully sweet.3 -
I might be wrong , but I think there are 2 packs now - only one has reduced/low sugar2

I’ve never thought Mr Kiplings of any kind were any good.7

The Mr Kipling website shows as 13.8g per pie https://www.mrkipling.co.uk/our-ranges/favourites/bramley-apple-pies
But there is also the delicously good range of "healthier" options at 2.5g of sugar per pie https://www.mrkipling.co.uk/our-ranges/deliciously-good/bramley-apple-pies1 -
The sugar tax only applies to soft drinks, not food. Although the government periodically threatens it...maisie_cat said:The sugar tax is probably to blame, sugar is a cheap ingredient so it's unlikely that they'd reduce it otherwise.

And sugar is no longer cheap.

It is still cheap compared to making things properly.greyteam1959 said:And sugar is no longer cheap.5 -
