Retro-fit battery to roof-rent solar panels

You need to see the contract, only the contract could conceivably give them the right to demand a change to your installation. Before worrying about solicitors I'd be demanding sight of the signed contract and asking them which exact term would prohibit installation of your battery.1

There must be a written ‘rent a roof’ scheme lease which covers what the homeowner can and cannot do with the installation. It will also cover maintenance and panel removal at the end of the lease term. Such a document would normally be lodged with the House Deeds if you have a mortgage.2

Just out of interest, would the terms of the original agreement still be in place if the ownership of the house changes?[Deleted User] said:There must be a written ‘rent a roof’ scheme lease which covers what the homeowner can and cannot do with the installation. Yes, when I bought my house with solar panels the owner of the house had to confirm that the panels were owned outright.sevenhills said:

The fact that the panels are not owned by the home owner would need to be disclosed on sale of the home.1 -
Having sold a house with PV panels, I got a very detailed questionnaire from the supplier’s solicitor about my PV solar array. I had to prove ownership with a signed off receipt or produce a Lease Agreement. Yes, the original agreement may pass to the new owner on the purchase of the property, or the panel owner will expect to be bought out of the arrangement. It should all be in the Lease Document.sevenhills said:
