Did the application online for New style esa yesterday. Received a text message from DWP that they will be in contact 18th April.
Do I wait until DWP contacts me and discuss we're to send sicknote and form SSP1?
Also will DWP phone me or ask me to go to local jobcentre? What will actually happen when they contact me process?
Could somebody please help to answer my questions.
Thanks

I applied during the height of the pandemic so things may have changed since then, bit I got a letter through within about a week asking me to send fit notes.
[I was then in contact with them by phone because I already had LCWRA from UC, so there ends my experience being of any possible use to you.]1 -
Yes, you will be expected to attend your local Job centre for your first appointment. You will be contacted in due course regarding this.

There's no journal when claiming New style ESA. The journal is for Universal Credit claims only.

ThanksDWP will contact you within 10 working days to schedule an appointment that you must attend. It will normally be over the phone with a work coach from your local Jobcentre Plus office.
It could be at their local Job centre. I've known quite a few people having to attend very recently.

That reminds me, pre pandemic a friend of mine had to attend separate ID and commitments appointments at the Jobcentre for both UC and ESA.poppy12345 said:TimeLord1 said:pope said:Did the application online for New style esa yesterday. [This after she'd had to give up work because she was too ill (like most people claiming ESA!), absolutely genius to make her have to attend double the number of appointments when she was barely well enough to attend even one.]1 -
You will be told when ESA want you to send them fit notes, so keep the ones you have until they do and then send all the ones you have. When they do tell you to start sending them you can do it online:https://www.gov.uk/send-fit-noteNote that is only for ESA - you CANNOT send fit notes to UC using that webpage.
Fit notes for UC have to be given to your Jobcentre.
