Kitchen Worktops

I am planning to have my complete kitchen make over, can someone recommend me where can I get good quality kitchen worktops, in particularly in solid oak as I am a big fan of wooden worktops. I heard that there were some leading online direct worktops supplier that were offering some at great price. Can someone recommend, ideally post the link to their webpage as well.
Besides, I am planning to do a complete makeover of my flooring as well. Can someone recommend if I should go for lacquered or oiled flooring?

Worktop express please be aware that solid wood worktop is high maintenance and needs to fitted to allow for movement a decent carpenter/kitchen fitter will know this.
Also up to you but draining grooves can be problematic with solid wood.
just edited my post as I put direct by mistake!
Maybe, just once, someone will call me 'Sir' without adding, 'You're making a scene.'

I (that is, the wife!) got some worktops from www.worktop-express.co.uk just a few days ago.  I've got no complaints, everything went smoothly and delivered really quickly.
Just watch out for the delivery charge.  I thought it was a bit steep, though it was 2 guys in a big lorry that delivered them (they weigh a ton!).
As always, do your own research and shop around.  I'm not by any means saying they're the cheapest or the "best", just a satisfied customer.

We and our daughter have also bought from Worktop Express, and have been satisfied with the service and the quality.

We both bought Iroko, daughter had 40 mm thick for her utility room, and we got the 28mm thickness for our bathroom, also matching plinth.

We have Beech worktops in our kitchen, from way back (34 years) and they are still going strong.  They were Junkers Danish beech, Worktop Express probably did not exist then.

A local timber merchant charges £40 for a kerbside delivery. £30 (plus an extra £15 for each additional worktop) isn't too bad, especially if they carry it indoors for you.
Last time I had worktops delivered, it was just the driver and myself - Had to call upon a neighbour to give us a hand as those things are darned heavy.

Thanks, sounds like their delivery charges are not too bad then.  Yes, they carried the worktops indoors where we asked them to, and yes they certainly are not light things to lug about!

The 4m long 40mm thick Iroko is extremely heavy!

I’ve used House of Worktops several times before. Been happy with the quality and the level of service. I have also considered Worktop Express but I’ve generally found House of Worktops to be a bit cheaper.

They’ve also just started doing wooden flooring. I’ve just ordered some for my office (arriving Friday!) but I was happy with the sample. I’d previously ordered a sample from a flooring website and this one was definitely superior.

Another vote for worktopexpress - get a carpenter to fit, and pre-oiled is well worth getting. We have oak and I know it’ll need Sanding every other year but only a morning’s work. Beware that marks will show - once you get over that you’ll love it!

Don't count on it - Friday 7th April is Good Friday, and not many businesses will be operating normally.

Do you guys know if I should go for Oak Worktop or Full Stave Oak Worktop from House of Worktops? What is Deluxe Oak Worktop do you guys have some idea? Is Oak better than Iroko, what is the advantage of Iroko when compared to Oak worktop?
Shall I stick to House of Worktops or Worktop Express? I would like to pick the right kitchen worktop for my kitchen - I would defenitely would love to go for wood - even though it has a slight maintenance aspect. But how is the maintenance of the wood worktop - can someone help me? how often do we have to oil it and how often does it have to be completely sanded and reoiled again?
