Do you not have that information from past bills?Stevej60 said:Hi folk's many thanks for the advice we'll see what they have to say when they contact us a price hike was expected but as there
are two of us in a fully insulated mid terrace and the same provider is asking double the rate of a family member with a three
bedroom semi with five occupants we cannot see the logic we've tried getting on the website for a KW reading but their site is
not loading we will continue to try I still worry about the non working gas meter too.0 -
Just a quick note folk's they have just this minute come back with a message stating a new charge of £300 PM variable with two
expected price decreases over the coming year all being well, I think that's as good as it's going to get and I know less than a lot of poor folk's are having to pay so we'll re-instate the DD and keep on at them about the meter.1 -
Have you worked out your actual annual use to check whether the amount they are asking you for is correct? Regardless of whether you are unhappy with the DD amount or not, it's a good principle to know how much you use.
Ignore what other people are paying on their DD - there are way too many variables (not least perhaps the family member is also on a cheap fix still!) to make that sort of comparison of any real value at all. It's your own use you need to be interested in - not least as if the monthly payments you have agreed turn out to be too little you could find yourselves with a big chunk of debt come the middle of next winter.
On the new gas meter - are you saying that the meter itself isn't working? Gas smart meters have screens that go "to sleep" as standard I believe - to preserve battery life - so you need to check the sequence of button presses to wake it up and show you your readings. Have the supplier confirmed whether they are getting readings from it correctly?🎉 MORTGAGE FREE (First time!) 30/09/2016 🎉 And now we go again…New mortgage taken 01/09/23 🏡

The website should go back to working soon I'll see what info it gives and post it,the electric meter started working about three weeks after installation but neither when the engineer left he said it would need to be done remotely and could take up to six month's there are three red buttons on the Gas meter he told us to press A when required to read it but even today that showsEssexHebridean said:Have you worked out your actual annual use to check whether the amount they are asking you for is correct? Hi folk's many thanks for your help and input over this finally got to speak to an adviser an engineer is contacting us re the non
working meter so fingers crossed our new DD is £295 PM which is better than the near £400 it was we have paid this months
bill as the DD doesn't start till next month still £230 in credit, interesting comment during the conversation was that the engineer
should have reported the meters as not connected on the installation day yet their e-mails state that it can take up to six months
and they were working to resolve the issue so they must have known about it.
anyway again many thanks can't wait for the car insurance renewal date!

From media reports it ain't gonna be pretty either0

Did you take the readings if the meters that were taken away and confirm them to be correct when the new ones were installed?
Just don't want you having another shock later down the line. Always handy to keep this info for a long time.0
